The window division of Woodgrain Millwork has been awarded the 2015 President’s Safety Award. This award was instituted in 2012 and has been presented annually to the division of the company with the best safety record for the year.

To win the award, the window division demonstrated exceptional worker safety in all three of its manufacturing locations: Windsor Windows & Doors locations in West Des Moines, IA and Monroe, NC, as well as Monarch Windows in Anniston, AL.

The window division was able to log impressive safety metrics for the year, including:

  • A recordable incident rate half that of the national average
  • A decrease in the lost workday incident rate

“Safety is our primary focus at Woodgrain,” said Woodgrain CEO Kelly Dame. “Our company values our employees and takes their safety very seriously.”

Dame awarded the traveling plaque to the winning Woodgrain division during a meeting in West Des Moines the week of March 28. In celebration of this achievement, Woodgrain also hosted a lunch for all window division employees.

“This award is coveted by each of the five divisions of Woodgrain Millwork,” said Mark Rieser, president of Windsor Windows & Doors. “By demonstrating personal responsibility for a safe workplace, our employees exemplify one of Woodgrain’s core values: the respect for people."

Windsor will proudly display the award throughout the year. This is the second time that Windsor has won the coveted safety award. Woodgrain’s distribution division took the 2014 award after the window division won the inaugural honor in 2013.
