Project Description
Located in a desirable community not far from Charleston, this brick ranch offered the perfect location but required lots of work to modernize and enhance its curb appeal. Krystine and her crew began by enlarging the windows to welcome an abundance of natural light into the space and expanded the living area with bi-fold doors leading to the outdoor patio. They also used a coastal white, gray, and black color pallet to update this colonial cottage and give it a contemporary flair.
Unique Requirements/Solutions
The existing home was taken down to the studs and veneer, and taller casement windows and bi-fold patio doors were installed to enhance the overall architecture of the space. Krystine wanted the windows to have a black clad exterior with narrow site-lines but it was also important to maintain the historically correct grilles. She was able to achieve this goal with Windsor products and she was also able to get prefinished black interiors. This created a striking contrast on the interior of the home, and it also provided some cost savings as well.
Comments from Project Associates
Krystine said she prefers to work with a local distributor because they are friends and business partners. Plus, thanks to Windsor having a manufacturing plant in the southeastern US, they understood the vision as well as the need to maintain the historical integrity and the architectural style of the home. Working with Four Corners and Windsor Windows & Doors made achieving this vision much easier!
