Woodgrain is honored to provide scholarships to children of their employees who are enrolled in higher education. Graduating high school seniors and returning college students are eligible for this financial aid and all employees are encouraged to apply. These scholarships are available to any child of an employee who is attending an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational school. Recipients are selected based on grade point average, career goals, community involvement, demonstrations of leadership and financial need. Many students have earned this scholarship for all four years of their education. Woodgrain is pleased to announce the 2021 Window Division recipients:
Bailey Hoch is the daughter of Jennifer Hoch who works in Inside Sales at the West Des Moines, Iowa location. Bailey will be starting her senior year at Purdue Global in Urbandale, IA this fall and studying human services. Bailey chose this major because she is very interested in helping others grow and improve their lives along with enhancing the lives of those in the community. You can find Bailey crafting, playing with her dog or practicing yoga in her free time.
Jennifer Hoch’s youngest daughter, Macie, is attending Mercy College of Health Services in Des Moines, IA. Macie wanted to help people in a fast-paced work environment and chose nursing for her degree. This fall Macie will be a sophomore. Macie also enjoys traveling and golf.
Jorge Amaro, son of Killian Fonseca, will be attending Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and will start his studies in electrical engineering this fall. Jorge has a passion for computers and fixing many different things. It’s even what he chooses to do in his free time! Killian works in the Patio Door Department in West Des Moines, IA.
Dwayne and Julie Biehl’s daughter, Brooke, received a scholarship for her freshman year at Bentley University in Waltham, MA. Brooke will be studying business and sports business management. In high school, Julie took an introductory course in business and found it very intriguing, so she decided to continue studies in business. Brooke participates in basketball, softball, Spanish club and was a member of the National Honor Society in high school. Dwayne works in Outside Sales and covers Vermont, Maine, Maryland, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Eastern New York areas.
Alex Dentlinger is the son of Lee and Sharon Dentlinger. Lee manages Windsor’s Quality Department at our West Des Moines facility. Alex will be a senior at Iowa Wesleyan University in Mount Pleasant, IA. Not only is Alex studying business administration, management and finance, he also plays basketball and golf for Iowa Wesleyan University. Alex has always enjoyed working with numbers and people and he feels that earning this degree will give him a broad range of career opportunities.
Anissa Egkhounmoung, daughter of Manichanh Egkhounmoung, from our West Des Moines location, will be a freshman at Iowa State University in Ames, IA. Anissa chose to study dietetics to improve the health of individuals in the community and hopes to travel around the world to improve the nutrition of those in need. In high school Anissa played on the varsity tennis team and earned a Silver Cord and National Honor Society. Manichanh works in the Quality Department.
Ethan Dinh’s daughter, Diahann, will be a senior this fall at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA. Ethan works in Windsor’s Quality Department at the West Des Moines, IA plant. Diahann chose Health Sciences as her major as a way of helping others when they need it to the most.
Lexi Tindell, daughter of Lisa and Kent Tindell, from West Des Moines, IA will be a sophomore at Iowa State University in Ames. Lexi’s chose graphic design as her major because she enjoys drawing and creativity. Lexi enjoys playing volleyball with friends, reading, drawing, bike riding and time in the hammock. During high school, she held a part-time position at Fareway Meat and Grocery. Kent is the Director of Manufacturing.
Jon Schroeder is the proud parent of Mya Schroeder. Mya will be attending the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN as a freshman. Mya would like to work with children in the future and own her own preschool, so she is majoring in early childhood education with a minor in business entrepreneurship. Mya participated in Fine Arts Society, Service Club, varsity softball, Academy Force Football and the girls tennis team and was a member of the National Art Honor Society. Jon is a Field Service Representative.
Hunter Pierce will be a senior at Iowa State University in Ames, IA this fall. He is the son of David and JP Pierce. JP worked as the marketing coordinator at the West Des Moines location in 2020. Hunter is studying Agronomy. He has always had an interest in science and agriculture and wants to work in the outdoors. And since agriculture is the number one business in Iowa, it seems like a perfect fit. Hunter enjoys fishing, disc golf and hunting.
Lal Puii is the daughter of Lal Mawii who works in Windsor’s Vinyl Plant in Norwalk. Lal Puii will be a freshman at Iowa State University in Ames, IA this fall. Lal will be studying business and is excited about all the opportunities available with this degree. In her free time, Lal enjoys drawing, reading and watching movies.
Lal Zuali is another talented daughter of Lal Mawii. Lal Suali will be a junior at the University of Iowa in Iowa City this fall. Since high school she has been interested in psychology and has continued to focus her studies in this area. Lal Zuali enjoys art and singing in her free time.
