Project Description
This inspirational mountain home was built as a personal oasis for home improvement television personality, Chip Wade and his family. The property has stunning views overlooking a 60,000 acres national forest. The contemporary layout provides maximum flow and flexibility in the living areas allowing the space to comfortably sleep up to 18 people. It features an open courtyard and a unique container pool that is built into a terraced area of the yard. The unusual placement of the pool allowed for a waterproof window to be installed that provides underwater visibility.
Unique Requirements/Solutions
This residential structure was built similarly to a commercial building, utilizing metal for the framing and many of the exterior materials for added fire resistance. It has radiant heat throughout as well as a back-up HVAC system. It is nestled into a densely forested area of northern Georgia and is 30 minutes away from another residence. Living here is truly a wilderness experience!
Comments from Project Associates
Building in this remote region in the North Georgia Mountains was a dream come true for Chip and his family. But because it was so isolated, it was a difficult project to coordinate. Transporting the building materials over such a long distance wasn't easy and getting the construction workers on site each day was a struggle. We appreciated Windsor Windows & Doors and Lansing Building Products for their dedication to this project. Their products were top-notch, and their delivery was always reliable. That made a world of difference in accomplishing this challenging project on time and on budget.
