In July, Windsor Windows & Doors announced the addition of black laminated exteriors to our Next Dimension Signature product offering on white vinyl extrusions. Laminated vinyl profiles provide an extremely durable finish with stronger scratch resistance, reduced heat buildup and are easy to maintain. The black laminated exterior option replaced the black paint option.
The laminated film used is Continental’s skai Cool Color Plus. The film is constructed with three layers for a total thickness of 9-10 mils. The typical paint thickness on vinyl profiles is 1-3 mils thick. The three layers that make up the film are the top transparent acrylic layer which provides extraordinary weather resistance and color stability, the middle pigmented based layer that contains the color and the bottom reflective layer which provides excellent reflective characteristics. The three layers combined with the embossed stipple finish provide a strong, reflective, and aesthetically pleasing finish to the Signature product line.
The products that have the new laminated film option are Signature operating casement and awning, fixed casement and awning, direct set, radius and sliding patio door. The laminate is applied to the profiles in lineal form then processed, welded and cleaned. The exterior welded and cleaned sash and frame corners will have black touch up that matches the black laminate color applied to them. For Signature products with a black exterior and black interior, the exterior will be laminated while the interior will be painted black.
