Windsor is thrilled to provide an update on our expansion in Monroe, NC. We have acquired 82 acres adjacent to our current Monroe facility and we have begun building a massive 570,000 sq. ft. production facility. This building will provide 35,000 sq. ft. of total office space, which will include a showroom and a large Windsor University training facility. For some time now, Windsor has had a long-term strategy to make the Monroe plant a self-contained manufacturing operation. Once this building is completed and the entire strategy is executed, the North Carolina plant will be much more independent and less reliant on the Iowa plant for components and units.
We plan to occupy this new building beginning in the spring of 2024, and we will continue to expand our investment over the next few years. Initially, this new structure will utilize high density warehousing, several automated production cells, as well as greatly expanded shipping and receiving docks. In 2024, we will introduce a new vinyl window offering that will include an impact option and a black laminated exterior finish that will be produced at this site. We will also increase our insulated glass capacity by mid-2024. In 2026, we will install a new prefinished interior paint line and a new powder coat paint line at this location.
Permitting and grading of the site took longer than expected but the pouring of the building pad is now complete. In September, steel beams defined the building’s skeleton, and the structure is beginning to take shape this fall. With the construction of this new production facility, Windsor’s manufacturing and training capabilities will be significantly expanded beginning in the fall of 2024!
Watch for future updates on the building’s progress in upcoming issues of our Windsor World newsletter.
