This year’s spring brings more than just green grass and blooming flowers for Windsor Windows & Doors. As winter turns to spring this year, Windsor will be expanding and growing in the new Norwalk facility. As you can imagine, moving the large machinery takes time and to lessen the delay of production the facility is being moved in stages.
On February 12th the move started by dismantling the Lisec Glass line in West Des Moines and reconstruction started in Norwalk to be completed by March 2nd. The week of February 19th all of the warehouse racking was moved into the new facility. The following week of February 26th the Next Dimension Pro line is making the transition and ready for functionality by March 3rd. Once that line is up and running, the Classic line will move and be ready for production on March 9th.mThe week of March 12th the vinyl casement line will move, completing the transition for full operation by March 16th.
The 160,000-square-foot project started in July of 2017 on 27 acres of land on the south side of Norwalk, less than 10 miles from the West Des Moines plant. After 18 inches of rock, 350 trucks of cement and 9 pours, the pad and the floor were completed. This new 40-foot-tall building had all of the walls poured offsite and then trucked from Des Moines. Each section is 12 inches thick and 12 feet wide.
Windsor Windows & Doors is ready to swing into spring and start the new growth!
