The design concept for the Pacific Palisades house was developed with an open air feeling that allows homeowners to enjoy inside/outside living at its best. The Southern California coastal community offers a unique environment to enjoy the shoreline weather. The exterior of this home resembles a Cape Cod-style beach home with shake siding and white windows with wide exterior trim. The interior of the home has white painted woodwork and large amounts of natural light, thanks to 42 windows located throughout the home.
When entering through the main living room there is a very large sliding door in view. This stacking door opens up to 20’ wide and exposes the room to the exterior living area just outside the door. This living area is under a large covered patio with an eating area as well as a casual sitting area adjacent to an outside fireplace.
In the kitchen, the builder chose another multi-slide door to the outside room. The door is a 4-panel pocketing door that pushes into the wall to maximize floor space. With this door open, the room looks and feels much larger. Having a door like this offers a free and open transition to the pool patio. The entertainment possibilities are endless.
The open feeling continues in the guest room on the lower floor. In this room, the builder installed yet another pocketing multi-slide door. Guests in this house will also enjoy the open air living experience. The builder has opened up the room directly to the backyard deck and grassy area.
The main design highlight of this home is the exterior living area on the large sundeck. This sundeck is located just off the upstairs sitting area and the master suite. When opening the pocketing multi-slide doors that lead to the master suite and the upstairs sitting area, there’s a very large entertaining area. When relaxing in the sitting area with the doors wide open, the views this property offers are stunning.
The designer’s goal was to invite the beautiful Southern California sun into the home. With the 5 large Windsor multi-slide doors, this natural lighting has been achieved. With the open air concept of the Pacific Palisades home, the owners will be able to comfortably enjoy the best of both worlds of indoor/outdoor living, whether they’re soaking up the abundant coastal sunshine or just enjoying the soft breezes of the Pacific Ocean.
