Windsor Windows & Doors’ vinyl production facility has achieved four straight years without a safety incident. Windsor made a substantial investment in 2006 by building this facility and installing state-of-the-art equipment to produce insulated glass (I.G.) and to expand production of their vinyl product line.
Nearly 50 employees work in this 100,000 sq. ft. facility to produce insulated glass for all Windsor products as well as to manufacture the newly expanded Next Dimension vinyl line. Windsor’s insulated glass line and vinyl production process is highly automated. This facility was designed for efficiency, precision and especially safety.
In conjunction with building this new plant and installing cutting-edge equipment, Windsor's management implemented a short list of simple but strict policies to create a safer workplace:
- All Glass Feeders and Off-loaders must wear protective jackets and Kevlar gloves
- Anyone who comes into contact with glass must wear the Kevlar gloves
- No opened razor blades are allowed; they must be in a protective case
Team members recognize the importance of following defined procedures. They are observant of each other and make sure proper personal protective equipment is worn and processes are followed. Consistent training emphasizes the importance of efficiency and safety. Our experienced and knowledgeable workforce is a result of minimal turn-over and ongoing education.
This four-year period without incident has heightened the importance of safety among all of our employees. The long-standing record, in itself, has perpetuated a more cautious culture. No one wants to be the one to put the streak – or their personal safety – at risk.
The company has long-held the values of Passion, Responsibility, Integrity Dedication, and Excellence; qualities we symbolized by the acronym PRIDE. The pride has been elevated throughout the company by this safety accomplishment.
