Project Description
This project was very unique because rather than serving as a main residence, it was designed to accommodate all four owners, their family and friends, as well as transient inhabitants.
A three story silo measuring 20 feet in diameter was connected to the house on two levels by a framed deck and stone pavers. The silo space provides a ground level studio with an efficiency apartment and loft on the upper two floors. The silo portion also serves as an Airbnb when the owners are away.
Unique Requirements/Solutions
The most difficult aspect of this project was converting the grain silo into a living space and creating a walkway between the silo and the main home. A skywalk was constructed to connect the main structure to the silo.
Comments from Project Associates
"Our whole team pulled together to create a beautiful outcome on the Cabin Point project," said Ted Marrs, President of Abrahamse & Company Builders. "The metal silo feature presented some unique challenges but the Windsor products were an excellent solution. Their streamlined appearance and simple two-over-two grille pattern complemented the modern farmhouse design. And the low-maintenance clad exteriors is perfect for a second home. Nobody wants to worry about maintenance when they're on vacation!"
