Windsor Employees Serving In Our Communities

It has been an exciting and productive year at Windsor Windows & Doors. Our primary responsibility of producing exceptional windows and patio doors requires dedication, focus, teamwork and ingenuity. However, we have found that our employees possess many other skills and talents as well. In accordance with our company value of servant leadership, we have fostered a culture that encourages our employees to reach out to their communities to provide help and assistance. In 2018, Windsor employees have once again proudly supported several local charitable organizations.

The North Carolina team gathered supplies to support The Forgotten Initiative locally in Union County. This group supports the foster care system by providing immediate need supplies to children as they enter the foster system. Many children enter this system suddenly and without preparation. When that happens these children often have no possessions of their own when they arrive to a new home; The Forgotten Initiative supplies “Go Bags” to give immediate assistance. Financial donations or sponsorships supplied to Union County Hospice and The Chamber of Commerce.

Our North Carolina employees also supported The Wolfe School through sponsorship in a charity golf event. The Wolfe School is part of the Union County Public School system that services middle school and high school age students with disabilities in a customized setting.

The Iowa employees have volunteered approximately 400 man-hours to the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Our hard-working employees have roofed a home, applied siding, painted the exterior of a home and prepared a home for occupancy.

Construction skills are understandably plentiful among our workforce. But we have found ways to utilize a wide variety of our employees’ skills. Since the beginning of the school year, we have sent four volunteers to the local elementary school every Wednesday morning to read books to kindergarteners. This additional reading time helps them expand their vocabulary and develop their reading skills. Our employees also devoted about 200 man-hours to the Food Bank of Central Iowa.

Over the course of the 2018, both of our locations have conducted several Employee Home Makeovers. This year our employees have volunteered to assist eight of their co-workers with major home repair projects. We have provided furnaces and air conditioning, replaced flooring, rebuilt decks, replaced roofs and windows, fixed long-standing plumbing issues, remodeled a kitchen, and even furnished a nursery. Our team members who have benefitted from this program are invaluable to our long-term success, and those who have volunteer to help their co-workers have given selflessly of their time and talent to better the lives of their friends. The Employee Home Makeover initiative was developed in 2016 to improve the general living conditions of our employees and, with Windsor’s financial backing, we are grateful that we have been able to improve the quality of lives of many of our employees.

All of these great things were achieved while Windsor experienced one of our largest sales years on record. Our employees have been exceptionally busy for the entirety of the year and they still found the time and energy to help others. These volunteer efforts are some of the accomplishments for which we are most proud. As the year comes to a close, we celebrate our success and, with the continued support of our distributors, we anticipate an even more productive 2019.
